Hoover City Schools Ranked #5 Statewide

A Milestone Moment for Hoover City Schools
This week, Niche released its latest rankings of school districts across Alabama, and Hoover City Schools ranked #5 statewide, ahead of Mountain Brook Schools for the first time. This is more than a number on a list. It’s a reflection of years of dedication from our educators, the support of our community, and the commitment from families who have chosen Hoover because of our schools. As a parent of 3 Hoover City Schools graduates, and a grandparent of 2 current Hoover City Schools students, and candidate for Hoover City Council Place 1, I believe this moment underscores the importance of continuing to put education at the forefront of our city’s priorities.

A Legacy of Excellence—Now Reaching New Heights
Hoover’s rise in the rankings wasn’t accidental. It came from hard work in the classroom, sound leadership at the administrative level, and a community that values academic achievement. Our schools have consistently performed well, but this new ranking shows that we’re not just maintaining—we’re improving. Outpacing Mountain Brook, long considered the benchmark for elite public education in Alabama, is a signal that Hoover is now leading the way. As a city, we should take immense pride in this milestone.

Keeping Schools a Top Priority on the Council
While the Hoover City Council doesn’t run the day-to-day operations of our schools, it plays a critical role in shaping the environment in which our schools succeed. Council members appoint the Board of Education—those five individuals who set the vision for our school system. As your Councilor, I will only support board appointees who share our values: academic excellence, fiscal responsibility, transparency, and an unwavering commitment to student success. I believe our schools thrive when the city and the Board of Education work in close partnership.

Investing in the Future of Hoover
Strong schools benefit everyone in Hoover. They raise property values, attract businesses, and ensure that our children have the tools they need to succeed in a rapidly changing world. Continued investment in our school infrastructure, School Resources Officers and public safety near campuses, and family-centered development is essential. I will advocate for city policies and funding decisions that help Hoover remain a destination for families looking for exceptional education and a high quality of life.

Excellence is not a destination—it’s a mindset.
We should celebrate this ranking, but we shouldn’t be satisfied. As your City Councilor, I will work every day to ensure that Hoover continues to support its schools, invest in its future, and build a community where every student can thrive. Together, we can keep Hoover one of the very best places to live, learn, and raise a family in Alabama.
